Use of ceramic particles as a hard material is being investigated to further improve the brake performance of alloyed cast iron shoe which has high performance for high speed trains. It is proved that SiC particles fed into the interface between wheel and shoe improve the brake performance. In this paper, we study the effects of embedding blocks made of SiC particles into cast iron shoes and the volume of SiC block and another type of SiC block (SiC-Cu block). We confirmed that both of these blocks effectively improve the performance of brake shoe.
